| Open Air Burning | | Smoke and ash from open-air burning is becoming less acceptable due to health and amenity concerns and alternatives to burning are encouraged, such as mulching and re-use of wood. In general, open-air burning is discouraged particularly when there are potential impacts on neighbours.
A permit must be obtained from the Warrnambool City Council and on-the-spot fines are issued for failure to obtain a permit. Before a permit is issued, prior inspections are conducted and strict permit conditions will apply. | |
| Incinerators | | Incinerators are no longer permitted under Council's Local Laws. Alternative disposal methods are encouraged such as reuse and recycling. | |
| Nature Strips & Footpaths | | These public areas are under Council control and prior Local Laws approval is required for specific uses. Contact Council’s Local Laws officers for information regarding: | |
 | Footpath trading (includes dining, A-frame signs and display of goods). |  | Conduct fundraising by non-profit organisations. |  | Controls on alcohol consumption. |  | Use of skateboards, scooters and rollerblades. |  | Display of vehicles for sale. |  | Parking on naturestrips. |  | Obstruction of footpaths by overhanging trees and other obstacles. |

| Parking | | Council provides both free and metered parking spaces for short and longer term parking in and around the City Centre. Many offered are all-day parks however those that are time limited help ensure a regular flow of available spaces for shoppers. There are approximately 900 free, all-day parking spaces available within walking distance of the City Centre. | |
| Parents with Pram Parking | | Suitable locations are being introduced to facilitate assessable parking for parents with prams. | |
| Disabled Persons’ Parking Permit | | Application forms are available from general practitioners or Council. Conditions apply. Parking in disabled bays in off-street carparks is free for current permit holders.

Permits are recognised elsewhere in Australia. Parking concessions may be different in other States and Territories and you should check the conditions applying to the Disabled Persons Parking Scheme in the State or Territory you intend to visit.

| Free Parking for Returned Service Personnel | | A permit system has been introduced which enables free parking for people involved in a theatre of war or peace-keeping force. Permit holders must be residents of the municipality and have represented Australia in war service. * This permit is only valid within the Warrnambool municipality.

| Loading Zones | | Loading zones are to assist with moving of goods from vehicles in the City Centre. They must not be used for parking or stopping by anyone other than people in commercial delivery vehicles with the current signage displayed. Motorists who are not eligible to park in loading zones will incur fines. | |
