Why Do We Need Rates?
Rates help fund a wide range of services provided by Council which include street lighting, maintenance of local roads, footpaths, drainage and also a wide variety of community services that range from maternal and child health to aged and disability services.

Rates also contribute to the Warrnambool Entertainment Centre, Library, Art Gallery and to maintaining Lake Pertobe, Botanic Gardens and Warrnambool’s recreation reserves and playgrounds.

What Is A Valuation?
A valuation is an assessment of the market value of a property, at a specific date. Under State legislation, Council is required to conduct general valuations every two years.

Enquiries about rates and valuations can be directed to Customer Service on (03) 5559 4800
