| Council supports two initiatives which aim to strenthen the overall health, resilience and diversity of the community for long-term social and economic benefits. | |
 | South West Health Communities Project; and | | Supporting Relocation to the South West Project (SRSWP) |

|
| South West Healthy Communities Project | | Healthy Communities’ primary goal is to align planning processes for health, well being and safety issues in South West Victoria’s five municipalities.
Based on the ‘social model of health’ Healthy Communities aims to integrate social, public and community health in response to planning processes.
These included: | |
 | Individual Municipal Public Health Plans for Corangamite, Glenelg, Moyne, and Southern Grampians shires and the City of Warrnambool; | | Primary Care Partnerships (PCPs) of the Warrnambool/Moyne/Corangamite sub-region and Southern Grampians/Glenelg sub-region; and | | Sub-regional Community Safety plans, for Corangamite, Warrnambool/Moyne, and Southern Grampians/Glenelg. |
|
|
| Healthy Communities provides a strategy for better integration between local government’s statutory brief for public health and community safety planning, and primary health care’s provision for community, physical and mental health. | |
| Supporting Relocation to the South West Project (SRSWP) | | Council developed the SRSWP project to address skill shortages in the Warrnambool area and broader region.
Given Warrnambool’s demographics is largely monocultural, the SRSWP project has the dual role of attracting migration and ensuring these migrants are well supported in their relocation to Warrnambool.
The key objectives of the project are to: | |
 | Promote the benefits of multi-culturalism in the Warrnambool community; | | Provide a stable safe and welcoming community for refugees to rebuild their lives; | | Support sustainable population growth ain the Warrnambool region; | | Provide for the anticipated and current labour shortage and facilitate growth in small to medium enterprise; and | | Create and answer demand for goods and services currently only found in urban and overseas markets. |
